Heather Elliott

COMPOSITOR & ROTO ARTIST
About

About Me

Being a fifth generation artist, I fell in love with visual story telling at a very young age.

I’m a freelance videographer, video editor, and animator based out of Washington, DC. I've had a successful professional career in video production and post-production spanning over 14 years. During theCOVID-19 pandemic, we were introduced to remote work and that has given many of us an opportunity to really think about the future of our careers, including myself.

I myself being a dreamer used this unique opportunity to go back to school and pursue my dream to work in compositing and visual effects as a full-time career. I’m currently dedicating a majority of my time to coursework to further my education and to shift my career path to compositing. In tandem to taking online courses, I am working to obtain my FAA Part 107 certification (drone pilot license) and have opened a 3D printing business, Rouge Props, to help with additional income. It is my hope that these income sources will help me continue to take the necessary courses needed to shift careers.

For me, the creative life was never a choice. What began as a decade-long affinity for animation gave way to an obsession with all things visual. When photography was not enough, I had to try my hand at video, then design, and motion graphics. In an age where people are inundated with visual content, it’s not enough to make beautiful images, we must seek opportunities to better understand how we interact with creative—to advocate visionary ideas and empower each other to build the future we want to see.
